The Table above identifies the health risks of people at various phases of their life when radiation levels were high (1966/7, 1971, & 1975). Their present (2023) ages are identified to provide a view of possible current health problems.

The following applies to the radiation impacts upon health from the below ground detonations, conducted after 1961.

FACTS, not opinions or political spin or Another Failed Desert Real Estate Scam
:

From 1961 until 1991 more than 42 thousand underground nuclear tests involving 1000 detonations occurred in the Las Vegas Nevada valley.

These detonations produced the highest radiation exposure of anywhere on the planet. Residents are the Experiment’s Lab Rat!

The resulting radiation levels from these detonations remains very high for many years. The Tests Continue – but Who’s looking!

The Nevada Test Site (high desert) where most of these tests occurred is approximately 20 to 65 miles upstream from Las Vegas and Henderson Nevada. Water flows downhill!

Today approximately 10 to 20 % of the Las Vegas / Henderson city drinking water flows underground through the Las Vegas valley. Or There Abouts! Not Either/Or but Both/And

Official statement – “Las Vegas’s main drinking water today comes from Lake Mead and the Colorado River system”, not directly from the old test site.  Las Vegas and Henderson have switched from well water supplies to Lake Mead.  They claim that city drinking water is now safe. Sure!

The memory of contamination has “faded a great deal in the mainstream real estate market”. Your money goes further here!

Another Failed Desert Real Estate Scam

“Henderson’s health profile is shaped more by modern urban factors than by nuclear-test history alone”. To make the comparison useful, you would want to look at “mortality, cancer incidence, birth outcomes, thyroid disease, respiratory illness, and socioeconomic controls”.

“Modern urban health problems” in Las Vegas and Henderson are dominated by factors like smoking, obesity, air pollution, heat, and healthcare access, which can overshadow any residual fallout signal in population statistics.

The overall picture is that federal and state monitoring has focused on whether radionuclides from the test site are moving off-site through “groundwater”, while local Clark County and Las Vegas programs have focused much more on “general water quality and habitat contaminants” than on Nevada Test Site fallout specifically.

“The problem is technically enormous.” Nearly 1,000 announced tests in Nevada, different yields, different burial depths, different geologies, different weather patterns, and different radionuclides create a very difficult reconstruction problem.

Drinking well water, as well as eating crops irrigated with Las Vegas valley underground water, continue to produce large radiation exposure.

Naturally occurring Tritium and other radioactive substances are present in the natural environment; but in very small quantities.

Some contaminants, such as Tritium, can not be filtered out, or otherwise effectively removed.  Home filtering as well as city processing is ineffective.

Separating Tritium (heavy water) from normal water requires expensive treatment using centrifugal separation or extensive filtration. It is Water!

Milk from cows in the Las Vegas valley has been proven to have transmitted radioactive Iodine into human thyroid tissue.  All food produced in the Las Vegas valley contains elevated contamination.

So … what’s a body to do …

Visitors – bring drinking water, milk and food from home. Or maybe … just don’t go!

Residents – buy water, milk and food from elsewhere = no farmer’s markets. Or maybe … just leave!

Government – Protect Life

Commerce – Get into the Liquid Transfer Game as well as Water Game

Banks – Continue Cleaning Up Currancy for People

Good Luck!
